What is creativity?

I’ve been told you can’t sum this question up with ease. I don’t agree with that at all. In fact as a self-professed creative person, I think it has to be succinctly comprehensible!

I believe creativity is found in every single person regardless of gender, orientation, race or ability. It’s simply the ability to connect the dots that will solve a problem. Where some people are able to present themselves as being more creative than others, is just the case that they have solved a problem that will benefit more of us and therefore their dot-connecting has been further reaching!

The more stimuli a person has, the more likely they are to be able to connect those dots, As creative professionals, we should all be capable of being obsessed and immersed with whatever catches our attention — which is why my personal library consists of everything from animal tracking, the night sky and prisons of South Africa, to paper craft and symbology! The more stimuli, the easier it is to see the dots that need connecting in the first place!
